As defined by Expenditure per Pupil divided by Performance Index Score
To compare spending efficiency across districts, the performance audit calculated a metric that divides a district’s Expenditure per Pupil by its Performance Index Score (PI Score). Performance Index Score is an overall composite of a district’s student performance on state standardized tests. Thus a lower value on this efficiency metric indicates a district is generating more performance for every dollar it spends.
The map below displays districts according to their spending efficiency. The most spending-efficient districts, ranked 1-61, are shown in the 91-100th percentile. Lower ranked districts can be displayed by selecting their associated percentile.
