Statement from Auditor of State Dave Yost
The following may be attributed to Auditor of State Dave Yost concerning the sentencing of former Village of Alger fiscal officer Jackie Prine.
Columbus - “Today’s sentence makes it clear – if you steal from the public, there will be serious consequences,” Auditor of State Dave Yost said. “I commend Judge Hart for standing up for the people of Alger and ensuring their tax dollars are returned.”
The former fiscal officer was sentenced to two years in prison today in the Hardin County Common Pleas Court. She also is ordered to pay full restitution of $77,596 for both the findings for recovery and the cost of the Auditor of State’s special audit.
The Auditor of State’s office, one of five independently elected offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 5,600 state and local government agencies. Under the direction of Auditor Dave Yost, the office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
