Statement from Auditor of State Dave Yost
Guilty plea entered today by David Smalley
Columbus – The following statement may be attributed to Auditor of State Dave Yost regarding the guilty plea entered today by David Smalley.
“After months of lying about their innocence, this husband-and-wife team has finally, grudgingly admitted their guilt," Auditor Yost said. "Their lack of remorse and callous abuse of the public trust will no doubt weigh heavily on the courts mind as it considers sentencing."
The Auditor of State’s office, one of five independently elected statewide offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 5,800 state and local government agencies. Under the direction of Auditor Dave Yost, the office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
