Press Release Ohio Auditor of State

Statewide School Head Count Conducted Today

Monday, November 9, 2015

Columbus – As promised in September, Auditor of State Dave Yost conducted an attendance count today at 10 traditional public schools and 45 charter schools statewide.

The student head counts compiled today by 60 staff members will be compared to enrollment estimates reported to the Ohio Department of Education earlier this year.  Results of the head count will be released in a report to the public.

The Auditor of State’s office conducted a similar head count on October 1, 2014 at 30 of Ohio’s charter schools.  The results showed more than half of the schools reported enrollment numbers significantly higher than the actual head count – in seven schools the difference was unusually high.
