Investigators from Auditor’s Special Audit Team will audit financial activities in city finance office.
Columbus - Auditor of State Dave Yost today announced his office will begin a special audit of the City of Grove City’s Finance Department at the request of the city’s Chief of Police Joseph G. Wise.
“We take allegations of public corruption and potential theft of public funds very seriously,” Yost said. “Investigators from our special audit section will work with city officials as well as state and local law enforcement to uncover any wrongdoing and restore the public’s trust.”
The Auditor of State’s Special Audit Section investigates suspicions of fraud and works with financial auditors and law enforcement to identify if public funds have been misused.
Timeframes for special audit investigations vary greatly depending on the unique circumstances of the scope of the special audit and the nature of the allegations.
